The LEA Conduct Committee was formed in 2017 to investigate violations of the LEA Code of Conduct. Volunteer commitment is a two year term that will include training opportunities. Due to the complex & challenging nature of this volunteer role, there are some expectations around the skills looked for.
Desired soft skills:
- Even tempered
- Able to have difficult conversations
- Not conflict averse/avoidant
- Empathetic
- Able to listen with the intent to understand
- Ability to withhold judgement
- Ability to be impartial
- Good written/oral communication
- Ability to handle stress
- Responsive and accountable
- Works well with others
- Possesses a high degree of initiative and independence
Additionally, any training or experience in one or more of the following areas would be an asset:
- Any psych degree/courses
- Dealing with sexual assault and survivors/training
- Conflict resolution training
- Ranger training
- Sanctuary training
- Computer savvy
